Wound Badge 20th July 1944
7 in stock
This badge was awarded to all those who had been wounded at the Fuhrer Headquarters, Wolfs Lair, at Rastenburg during the attempted Bomb Plot Coup by a group of High ranking officers of the Wehrmacht.
To mark this occasion Hitler ordered this badge to be awarded as a memento of the event that destiny stepped into to save him from this assassination attempt.
It is based on the standard wound badge but with a larger helmet with the date 20 Juli 1944 and a facsimile of Hitler’s signature.
Only 24 of these badges were awarded and this reflects the number of men in the room when the bomb exploded.
The badge shown here is the silver level award.
