National Socialist Germany recognised the important role of the Mother in the State and this was reflected in many ways.
The most obvious of these was the bestowal of the “Mothers Cross”. The award shown here is the Gold level which was awarded to Mothers of 8 or more children. This level of the award was often bestowed by Hitler himself on Mothers Day.
The rear of the medal has the date of the awards institution, 16th December 1938, and below this a facsimile of Hitler’s signature.
